The fashionable wardrobe has everything from tops to bottoms to backpacks and hats, giving anyone shopping it their own chance to transform the wardrobe into their own style. Due to the California-esq look of the collection, anybody can put themselves into the beachy and breezy feeling from wearing the K&K collection, making them feel chic and cute even if they’re just in the suburbs of New Jersey.
Maya Sinclair, ‘15, who goes to school at Gann Academy in Boston, MA, wears the “casual-yet-chic” collection on a daily basis. “Though its not yet summer,” she says, “I still try to find a way to wear the clothes as much as possible. I love the idea of it all and I love every piece of clothing in the collection. I can’t wait until summer so i can wear the full collection.” For some, the K&K collection really hits the spot in the dream wardrobe, yet some people have a much different opinion towards it. Leah Strahs, ‘15, who goes to school at Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ, has a different outlook. “I feel like the collection can only be worn by a certain type of girl, girls with the ‘wanted’ physique and the right curves. It makes other girls who may not be able to fit the collection feel like they aren’t good enough to be a Jenner.” states Strahs.
The controversy about the collection is intriguing, yet all the possible flaws stated have ways to get around. They have different sizes of all the apparel to make sure no matter who you are you can still wear the wardrobe. Also, the collection is more than just clothing, it has bags, backpacks, hats, and more, so even if the clothes aren’t right for you, one can still rock a bag and hat from the collection.
Along with just the basic looks, the pricing of the collection is within a reasonable range. Most of the apparel ranges from $20 to $40, similarly to almost all summer collections in style and the same range as Pacsun’s normal clothing prices. The backpacks are around $50 which is much less expensive than getting a Jan Sport backpack or North Face backpack for much higher prices. Compared to the bargain brands, the clothes aren’t as fashionable or even well tailored as the Kendall & Kylie collection. Knock-off brands are real “knock-offs” that rip within days of buying and don’t support as well as the real brand, making the real deal worth the cost.
The wardrobe attracts me mainly based on the variety of the clothes. There are simple tee’s and shorts for a day at school, flowy maxi dresses for a nicer occasion where you can still stay cool even in the heat of the summer, and even simple knit cardigans and sweaters that anyone can just throw on at the beach. The different styles and places you can go in the collection is a key factor in its popularity. The amount of opportunities and different ways the wardrobe can be worn or used is why I like the collection so much and recommend it to be bought and shown off this summer.
